Gloria Smith ("Gran Ma Gigi")

At the age of twelve Gloria began her studies in oil, later graphite, pen and ink; today she uses mixed media staying mostly with acrylics. Much of her earlier work was devoted to painting needlepoint canvases and crewel pieces for shops in towns on the East coast.

She is a former Director of the Casa Grande Valley Historical Society.  She served on the City of Casa Grande’s Arts and Humanities Commission and received an award from Central Arizona College ( CAC ) for promotion of the Arts in Pinal County. She founded the Casa Grande Community Writers Group in 1996.

The Poet and the Artist combined skills while working for a division of Mc Graw Hill. She did graphic design and illustrations of books and covers while creating poems.  Her art has been displayed from the East Coast to the South West in both juried and non juried art shows, libraries, restaurants, and galleries.
